Texas Mutual Safety and Wellness Grant
2015-2016
The Challenge: Supporting Businesses with PPE & Wellness Resources
Amid growing workplace safety concerns, Texas Mutual sought to support policyholders with access to PPE and wellness resources. However, no formal grant structure existed, requiring the creation of an end-to-end program that would be scalable, legally compliant, and impactful.
Key Challenges:
No existing grant framework → A structured program needed to be built from scratch.
Strict legal & compliance requirements → Eligibility criteria required cross-functional collaboration with legal & leadership.
Time-sensitive execution → The program had to launch before the September 1st open-enrollment period.
My Role: Business Process Analyst & Project Lead
Tasked by executive leadership, I led a cross-functional initiative to design, develop, and implement a $2M grant program within just 11 months.
Key Leadership Contributions:
✅ Designed & structured the grant program – Personally authored the grant guide & eligibility criteria with oversight from legal.
✅ Led a cross-functional team, including legal, finance, safety, and vendor partners, ensuring seamless execution.
✅ Researched & recommended vendors to supply PPE & wellness services.
✅ Secured additional executive funding, presenting program impact to leadership and securing a mid-year $500K expansion.
✅ Prepared board-ready materials, crafting the final presentation with the VP of Safety for Board approval.
The Solution: A Scalable & Legally-Compliant Grant Program
The program provided policyholders with funding for PPE and wellness resources, ensuring broad accessibility and compliance with corporate policies.
Key Features:
$2M in Initial Funding → Structured for scalable impact with clear eligibility & application guidelines.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration → Aligned with legal, finance, and operations for smooth execution.
Ongoing Performance Tracking → Established key metrics & feedback loops to optimize future funding rounds.
The Impact: Ongoing Success & Long-Term Value
Secured $10M+ in payouts → The program remains successful, significantly exceeding initial funding goals.
Expanded Funding → Executive confidence led to an additional $500K in funding for workplace safety.
Hundreds of policyholders supported → Delivered essential PPE & wellness resources to businesses in need.
